Shopping is not usually a pastime for Julie and I but when we visit AJV West we do have some favorite areas for shopping. Of course I'm not talking about any ordinary shopping. My favorite activity is visiting local are galleries and there are plenty to choose from. But why stop there? From the street fair at the College of the Desert every weekend to The River in Rancho Mirage to consignment shops like none you've ever seen there's something for everyone. Check out the great places to shop below.

El Paseo, Palm Desert

If you saw our favorite restaurants page then you'll surely recognize El Paseo. In addition to great places to eat El Paseo has quite a few art galleries worth visiting. A couple of my favorites are: Jones and Terwilliger Galleries, CODA Gallery, and Eleonore Austerer Gallery to name a few.

College of the Desert Street Fair

For something a little different I recommend the College of the Desert street fair held every Saturday and Sunday. With over 340 vedors with items ranging from new merchandise to arts and crafts, you're bound to find something unique. There's also a farmer's market on site so why not pick some fresh fruits and vegetables for when you get back to AJV West and want to relax on the patio?

The River at Rancho Mirage

An oasis in the desert, the River has several well known restaurants including the Cheesecake Factory and PF Chang's. You'll find some more art galleries as well as more traditional shops.
