Really this section should be called nature and the environment. You might think of the desert as a dry, hot, almost lifeless place but you'd be wrong. You may wonder how can there be so many golf courses in such a dry place? Ground water is abundant and gray water is used for the more water intensive uses such as the golf courses.
Green isn't only the color of the fairways. Driving into the Coachella Valley you can't help but see the many types of windmills, a very green source of energy indeed.

Windmill Tours

I think the windmills visible from I-10 are an amazing sight. Clean energy from the wind that is almost always available. It's cool to think that as those blades turn power flows to AJV West and many other area homes.
You can tour the windmills and learn how they work. I've always been interested in going myself but haven't made it yet. If you go let us know how you liked it.
