No this is not the place U2 took the picture for their album cover but it's worth a visit and listening to the Joshua Tree CD as you drive through the park isn't a bad idea. At times the landscape can seem so barren but the beauty comes through as rock formations and mountains spew forth from nothing.

Maybe my picture of a Joshua Tree isn't as iconic as the U2 version but you have to admit they're interesting to look at. Joshua Tree National Park is a favorite among climbers but even if you don't have any experience, scrambling and climbing smaller formations brings out the kid in all of us. I've been hiking for what seems like a long time and suddenly around a corner or off in the distance rocks appear as if the ground opened up ejecting them into an otherwise flat landscape.
